Siemens Healthineers’ Varian announced the CE marking and European launch of its IntelliBlate microwave ablation system for image-guided cancer therapy. The system received FDA clearance in the U.S. about a year ago.
Designed for precision and control, IntelliBlate creates large, spherical ablation zones with single or dual probes, each independently controlled. Its Ximitry probe features laser disk alignment and LED indicators, offering continuous temperature monitoring inside and outside the treatment area for real-time procedural insights.
Varian’s modular, portable system supports flexible workflow integration and operational efficiency. IntelliBlate aims to improve predictability in probe placement and treatment confirmation, addressing the growing role of thermal ablation as a first-line cancer treatment.
The company plans to showcase IntelliBlate at CIRSE 2025 in September.
