LivsMed has unveiled Stark, its new surgical robotic system designed natively for telesurgery, in partnership with Sovato. The company demonstrated Stark’s long-distance remote surgery capabilities in a feasibility wet-lab session spanning 2,000 miles between Santa Barbara and Chicago.

Stark leverages LivsMed’s ArtiSential handheld robotics technology, offering 90 degrees of articulation and a small footprint, making advanced robotic surgery more agile and cost-effective for hospitals with limited space or budget. Surgeons from City of Hope National Medical Center remotely performed procedures, including a cholecystectomy and partial liver resection, on a porcine model.

LivsMed aims to democratize access to advanced surgical care globally by combining affordable hardware with Sovato’s telepresence workflows and networks. CEO Jung Joo Lee says the goal is to make robotic surgery practical and accessible for every hospital and patient, regardless of location.
