Smith+Nephew has launched its Trigen Max Tibia Nailing System in the U.S., targeting both stable and unstable tibial fractures, including complex shaft injuries.
The Trigen Max system introduces the only side-specific intramedullary nails available in the U.S., enabling anatomic screw trajectories for better fragment fixation and reduced soft tissue irritation. It also supports headless and low-profile screw options to tailor treatment to individual patients.
Key features include:
- A modular drop system for simplified instrumentation and enhanced visualization
- A 12.5 mm channel reamer that protects soft tissue and preserves the tibial entry point
- 5.0 mm lag screws capable of delivering compression in a single insertion
Dr. Joseph Hsu praised the system’s ability to treat injuries previously deemed unsuitable for intramedullary nailing, calling it a “truly patient-centered approach.” The first clinical case was completed last week in the U.S., with no international rollout announced yet.
