Philips has completed the first European procedures using its VeriSight Pro 3D Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) catheter, a breakthrough device that delivers real-time 3D imaging from inside the heart.
Clinicians at University Medical Center Mainz and Robert Bosch Hospital in Stuttgart guided tricuspid and mitral valve repairs using the catheter, which eliminates the need for general anesthesia. The catheter enables direct visualization of complex cardiac structures such as the tricuspid valve and left atrial appendage.
Dr. Stephan von Bardeleben called the imaging “exceptional,” noting it improved confidence and efficiency during valve repair. Dr. Philipp Nikolai added that VeriSight Pro offers a less invasive alternative to transesophageal echo (TEE), streamlining transcatheter procedures.
