A new robotic imaging system has been used in humans for the first time, marking a milestone in cardiac imaging. German startup ROB’E developed the remote-controlled technology to enhance transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures while reducing operator radiation exposure.
In the study, five patients underwent both standard manual TEE and robotic-controlled TEE using the system. Results confirmed safety, feasibility, and the ability to precisely replicate standard imaging views. No complications were reported.
This innovation could redefine interventional echocardiography, improving access and safety for both patients and specialists.
