Leeds’ Old Medical School will transform into a world-class Health Tech Innovation Hub, positioning the city as a leader in medical research and innovation. The redevelopment, part of the Leeds Innovation Village project, will foster collaboration between researchers, businesses, and clinicians to accelerate healthcare advancements.

Professor Phil Wood, CEO of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, called it a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to drive health innovation. The hub will include wet and dry labs, offices, incubator spaces, and co-working areas, supporting both start-ups and global healthcare firms.

The 75,000 sq ft facility will enhance the NHS Trust’s innovation efforts, bringing together 300+ health tech firms generating £3B annually. Backed by the £160M West Yorkshire Investment Zone, the project is expected to generate £13B in economic growth and 4,000 jobs.
