Vail Scientific has unveiled a redesigned VSNO sepsis screening device, developed in partnership with Minnetronix. The updated device, now 75% smaller, mounts on an IV pole and utilizes a breath-based nitric oxide analysis, eliminating the need for blood draws.
With sepsis as the leading cause of hospital deaths, early detection is critical. The VSNO system aims to cut diagnosis time from 8 hours to under 2 minutes, providing rapid triage-stage testing, even before hospital admission.
Minnetronix has also optimized the device for scalability and commercial production. A verification study is set for 2025, followed by final trials and FDA clearance efforts.
